Dr. Jude Hockel, D.C., is a sports chiropractor with specialization of musculoskeletal injuries of athletes and weekend warriors who want to live life without musculoskeletal limitations. Dr. Hockel grew up in a large family in Walnut Creek, California, where most of his childhood was focused on baseball, football and academics. During high school, his interest in healthcare initially began while enrolled in a rigorous anatomy and sports medicine class. Following high school Dr. Hockel attended Diablo Valley Community College (DVC) in order to pursue a division I collegiate football career. After two years at DVC, Dr. Hockel accomplished his goal and received a full ride scholarship to play football at Utah State University. Dr. Hockel continues his active lifestyle through golf, hiking, weight training and softball.

  • Dr. Hockel’s collegiate career at Utah State University resulted in ten starts at offensive guard and a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement Science. However, by the end of his collegiate football career he had accrued numerous injuries including a torn rotator cuff and torn meniscus. Dr. Hockel became disgruntled with suboptimal surgical options and lack of progress with physical therapy. Fortunately, soon after graduation Dr. Hockel began working as a chiropractic assistant at a clinic in San Francisco. This was his first exposure to chiropractic; he was treated with Active Release Techniques (ART) and experienced dramatic improvement. After chiropractic resolved his athletic injuries, Dr. Hockel decided he would become a chiropractor. Dr. Hockel attended Palmer College of Chiropractic West, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

  • While Dr. Hockel is caring for his patients, he will be hiking in the mountains, golfing, taking his Golden Retriever to the beach, or finding another way to be active and stay outside. Dr. Hockel also enjoys visiting his family in Colorado or the Bay Area, traveling, or listening to local live music.
